Album Info:On a rainy day I visited the steam engine festival in Osnabrueck, Germany, not far from home. Despite the bad weather I was able to take several great shots of historical steam, diesel and electric locomotives!

Title:  DB 103 222
Description:  For decades the class 103 electrics powered intercity trains with speeds of 200 kph or faster in Germany. A couple of years ago they were retired, 103 222 was on display at the railway station of Osnabrueck. Electric engine #111 125 on the left lead the train from Muenster the I rode to the festival.

Description:  This is a twin-engined diesel locomotive built for the DR (GDR railways) in Romania. When delivered these engines proved to be extremely unreliable and went through several rebuild programs but they never really operated as desired. The DB retired them a few years ago, 219 084 is a museum unit.

Description:  This is a unique steam engine. 18 201 was rebuilt from a class 61 engine as a high speed testbed. It was restored a few years ago and now operates special and excursion trains. A really impressive sight, the driver wheels are 2.30m/7.5' in diameter!
